I never make new year’s resolutions. I just want to be a better person for others and for myself. I want to grow every second, minute, day, month, year and be wiser, wiser with experiences, sensations, feelings, emotions. And I want to taste consciously every second of my life, fully experience each moment, without fear of doing wrong. Just following my heart and intuition. Live whole-heart life.
I’ve realized that what frequently holds me from living fully my life is fear and shame. Fear of making mistakes, of doing wrong, of making fool of myself and shame of showing real me to others and even to myself.
Not such a long time ago being authentic was a shame for me. Being authentic meant to be vulnerable. And being vulnerable is a shame! No-one wants to be vulnerable, we all want to be strong and tough. Vulnerability means to be easy hurt, it’s weakness. Do you think the same?
Brené Brown – Ph.D., LMSW a research professor that has spent the past decade studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame – says that “vulnerability is the most accurate act of courage and it is the birth place of innovation, creativity and change”. The word “courage” comes from the Latin word “cor” which means the “heart”. To have courage is to share what’s in your heart, it’s being vulnerable, authentic and real, without shame and fear.
This year I’ve prepared a list of things that I want to do in 2014. For now it has 14 points. The point number one is to make mistakes, everyday! I want to have the courage to be imperfect, to be authentic and real always, without shame. I want to have the courage to fail miserably many times. I want to dare greatly, create, change, live whole-heart life!
My wishes for you for 2014 were expressed in the quote by Neil Gaiman:
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
This is my number 1 2014 resolution! Make mistakes everyday, forever! If I manage this the rest will be easy to achieve.
